Game of Thrones: breathes its last as the cast wraps its final season

Yes, the shooting of the eighth and final season of The Game of Thrones has finally come to an end. The last episode was filmed at mammoth King's Landing set, where much of the climatic action will apparently take place.

It will surely take us all some time to come to terms with this, but it's true that after the eight season, there will be no more GoT, Jon Snow, Khaleesi, the battles, bloodshed, the crow or the Ravens. NOTHING! The amazing show will rest in peace forever!

If reports are to be believed, the official last day of filming was Friday (July 6). The news first broke after Maisie Williams said goodbye to Arya Starkand GoT by sharing a picture of some very bloody shoes. Along with the picture, Maisie wrote, "Goodbye Belfast. goodbye arya. goodbye game of thrones. What a joy I've had. here's to the adventures to come."

And then, just to add a bit of further mystery, she accompanied the post with the captions "last woman standing" and "barely".

Meanwhile, Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) has reflected on THAT tattoo that had got everyone to accuse her for allegedly spoiling the ending of the show. Last month, Sophie's new tattoo featuring a dire wolf and the words 'the pack survives' was revealed on Instagram, which suggested that the remaining Starks, all survive season eight.

"That would be terrible if I got the ending tattooed on my body, just before the last season came out," she reassured Digital Spy. "That would be so stupid."

So this is it. Now before Game of Thrones season 8 premieres in 2019 (with no specific date set as yet), there is a long, arduous wait. The show airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
