How do you entertain someone

To entertain someone when they’re feeling sad or depressed?

That would be kind of hard.

Because when a person is sad/depressed, their thoughts will often be sad/depressed even if they try to think of happy things (once they think of happy things their mind will revert back to being depressed/sad.). The term that people use to describe this is called, “mood congruent.”

Example of mood-congruent: If a person is angry, they will think about thoughts that made them angry in the past/present; their mind will be hooked onto that.

In order for them to stop feeling sad/depressed, you have to feel empathy and sympathy for them (comfort them). Let them vent about their problems to you; all they need is someone to listen to them. Tell them a similar situation that happened to you and how sad/depressed you felt about it; let them know that they aren’t the only ones sad about this situation. Then, tell them how you solved the problem and how you stopped being sad.

Let them invite you to talk to them. Sometimes people who are feeling depressed/sad need their space to think over things alone. If she wants to talk to you, she will ask you to talk to her. Otherwise, do not bother her and enjoy your life; have fun with other friends, family, siblings, etc.

Eventually, she’ll stop being sad/depressed and move on.

Goodluck and I wish the best for you and your friend. God bless you.
